Welcome to Electrical Department

SRA Institute of Science and Technology

Introduction

The Electrical Technology Department at SRAIST is one of the most essential and popular branches of engineering. In a world that runs on power, Electrical Engineers are the backbone of modern civilization—responsible for generating, transmitting, and distributing the electricity that powers our homes, industries, and cities. As Bangladesh moves towards 100% electrification and digital transformation, the demand for skilled Electrical Diploma Engineers is higher than ever before.

Career Opportunities

A Diploma in Electrical Technology offers some of the most secure and prestigious job roles in the country. Our graduates can work as Sub-Assistant Engineers in:
  • Power Generation: BPDB (Bangladesh Power Development Board), EGCB, and Ashuganj Power Station.

  • Distribution & Transmission: PGCB, DESCO, DPDC, WZPDCL, and NESCO.

  • Telecommunications: BTCL and private mobile network operators (Grameenphone, Banglalink, etc.).

  • Infrastructure: Bangladesh Railway, Civil Aviation, and Seaports.

  • Real Estate & Industry: Electrical safety and maintenance in high-rise buildings, garments, and pharmaceuticals.

  • Government Organizations: PWD, LGED, and various city corporations.

Opportunities Abroad

Electrical Engineering is a “universal skill.” A Diploma from SRAIST is a gateway to international careers, especially in the Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar) and European countries where technical expertise is highly valued. Graduates can also pursue higher education (B.Sc. in EEE) at world-class universities, an opportunity not available to students with only an HSC certificate.

Importance of Practical Education

Electrical technology cannot be learned only from textbooks. At SRAIST, we emphasize “learning by doing.” Our Electrical Department features modern labs where students work with the same equipment used in the industry:
  • Electrical Circuits Lab: Testing AC/DC circuits and measuring electrical parameters.
  • Electrical Machines Lab: Hands-on training with Motors, Generators, and Transformers.
  • Digital Electronics & Microprocessor Lab: Learning about automated control systems.
  • Wiring & Installation Workshop: Mastering domestic and industrial wiring standards.
  • Power System & Protection Lab: Understanding switchgear, circuit breakers, and relay operations.
This rigorous practical training ensures that our students can confidently handle complex electrical systems from day one of their careers.
